Boise or BR?
When I arrived in Boise I drove into town amid unusual heavy thunderstorms and my friends here said I had brought the weather from Louisiana. Apparently I also brought the crime.
I got called away from a cold beer tonight about 11 p.m. to go to the scene of a drive-by shooting near a crowded club in downtown Boise. This would hardly be ground-breaking news in Baton Rouge but it's a big deal in a town that recorded zero murders last year.
People at the scene were saying things like, "Well, I guess Boise's becoming a big city" and Joeja overheard someone say indignantly, "I thought I was getting away from stuff like this when I moved from San Francisco." Gritty Boise is not.

I can relate.
My editor was all excited yesterday saying that little Show Low, Arizona had finally "arrived"
When I asked why, he said it was because the town had finally gotten its first prostitution arrest. Nothing like a strung out hooker bust to let you know you're really alive.

Yeah Boise is crazy lately! Two shootings in a week. Craaaazy. I'm not gonna tell my mom though. She thinks about three people live here, so she'd probably assume I was thisclose to getting shot too.
