It runs in a circle, right?
This is old news but too good to good not to blog. Joeja, Hilary and I went whitewater rafter recently and nearly as soon as we got on the river one of our raft mates said, "So, the river just runs in a circle, right? We just end up back where we started."
The guide, showing remarkable restraint, simply told her that no, a bus would be picking us up down the river. Unfazed, the woman insisted that the river must run in a circle because that's what the Boise River does (the Boise is the river that runs through town and a popular floating spot). Even worse, she had actually floated the Boise, which means she got on the river, floated for a couple hours, got out several miles away and STILL thought the river ran in a circle. The worst part? She has four children.

I was recently on a Seattle boat cruise with my visiting aunt and cousin, and the dude behind us saw Mt. Rainier looming on the horizon and said, in all seriousness, "Hey, look! There's Mount Olympus!"
